A brand reading

Johnson & Johnson.

Caregiver The industrial Caregiver.

The Tylenol response in 1982 (recall everything, redesign packaging, eat the loss) is taught in MBA programs because it is a Caregiver behaving the way the archetype demands. Not all of J&J’s history is this clean, but the brand survives on the moments that are.

The five-layer reading.

01 Motivation
Caregiver. The industrial Caregiver.
02 Mind
ISFJ
03 Temperament
Phlegmatic
04 Persuasion
Ethos
05 Expression
Expressed (occasionally distorted)

Protective, reliable, slow to apologize. When the Caregiver protects itself instead of the customer, the archetype distorts; J&J’s opioid and talc histories sit in that shadow.
